Legacy Alum Turned Staff Tells His Story on Podcast

Legacy Staff Podcast

This week, Legacy’s very own Daniel Rogers, was interviewed for Stories From The Field: Demystifying Wilderness Therapy, an industry-specific podcast from Dr. Will White.  The Stories from the field: Demystifying Wilderness Therapy Podcast (which is available on all listening platforms) is dedicated to “demystifying” the field of Wilderness Therapy. In this podcast, Dr. White interviews Wilderness Therapy

researchers, program founders, writers, executive directors, guide staff, clinicians, critics, former clients and more. The mission of the podcast and Dr. White’s work is to educate the listener to the long history of the field and different trends related to this evolving treatment option.

Daniel’s episode is both powerful and relatable. He tells his story of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood suffering with social anxiety and self medication with drugs and alcohol. Though Daniel managed to perform “well on paper,” like so many do, he was actually struggling to maintain his mental health and wellbeing. After a series of events that he tells with great vulnerability and humility, Daniel was able to seek treatment at Legacy Treatment Center, an adult Wilderness Therapy Program. The rest, as they say, is history!

From his time at Legacy onward, Daniel has been on a path to help others heal in the ways that he found healing: therapeutic intervention, connection with others, and spending time in nature. Daniel and Dr. White talk about his work with Legacy, as well as his own venture in New York City called Cityscape Therapy, where he spends time with clients both inside AND outside.

Previous episodes of Stories From The Field: Demystifying Wilderness Therapy have also featured members of the Juniper Canyon/Legacy team including Executive Director Gil Hallows, Business Development Director Derek Daley, Clinical Director Maddy Leibing and former Assistant Clinical Director Rachel Rollins.

You can listen to Daniel’s episode of the podcast and others on Spotify, Apple, Google, or wherever you listen to podcasts!
