Mike Hinkle

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Mike decided to continue his work as a field guide and from there, his professional career in Substance Abuse Counseling evolved. He went back to school at Utah Valley University and completed their Substance Use Disorder Counselor Licensing program. Mike has worked in both wilderness/outdoor and residential settings. He specializes in family workshops and loves to be able to help families come together and feel the hope that recovery offers to the family system. He is trained in the Gorski model of relapse prevention and as an interventionist. As one of the co-owners of Legacy Treatment Center and Juniper Canyon Treatment Center for Women, Mike takes great pride in his work as Program Director. He enjoys coordinating all of the different elements of the programs and experiencing the synergy of the organization. His favorite part of his work, however, is when he has the opportunity to connect directly with the clients at Legacy or Juniper Canyon because it’s a reminder of why the work he does is so important.

In addition to his work at Legacy and Juniper Canyon, Mike loves to take advantage of all Utah has to offer! Mike has worked as a ski patroller and is a commercial canyoneering and climbing guide. He is married with three children and loves all things outdoors and sports. Mike spent 6 years as the Varsity High School Basketball Coach at Wayne High School.
