The leadership at Legacy Outdoor Adventures and Juniper Canyon Recovery Center for Women take the health and well-being of our community, including clients and their families as well as our own team members, very seriously. Our number one priority and overarching policy is to “take all reasonable steps necessary to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our clients and employees.”
In addition to our current clients, we are also well aware that any young adult who needs treatment will still need swift access to our programs. With that in mind, we are also prioritizing the health and safety of all incoming clients during this time and have implemented new protocol for the admissions and intake process. Where possible we are asking families to consider forgoing air travel. In an effort to incentivize this we are discounting our enrollment fee to accommodate the extra measures families may need to take.
While the Coronavirus pandemic continues to develop, we would like to take a moment to share our response and the ongoing precautions we are taking to protect the health and well-being of clients, family members, and staff. We have implemented the following measures:
1. We have suspended on-site family workshops at least through the end of April. We will still continue to do family work during this time, however. Therapists will be reaching out to families with loved ones currently in the program to go over how we will provide the workshop experience remotely.
2. We have suspended all outside visits to the Legacy and Juniper Canyon programs.
3. Our admissions and medical team is doing a thorough screening assessment with all prospective clients. New coming clients will be in quarantined for the appropriate amount of time upon arrival.
4. We have instituted heightened screening procedures for current staff and clients in the program, and have developed a protocol if we should suspect illness in our community.
5. Any staff who has any symptoms or illness will not come to work until cleared by a doctor and will be sent home if symptoms or any kind of illness appears while on duty.
6. Our Summit House group has eliminated all community-based activities.
7. We have stepped up our daily hygiene campaigns with frequent handwashing and daily disinfectant protocols.
8. We have implemented strict social-distancing practices both in the field at the treatment center.
9. We are reducing the size and frequency of all of group meetings, and have moved all meetings and group sessions into outdoor spaces.
10. We have suspended all non-essential company travel for business purposes. Those employees whose jobs allow it are working from home.
11. We are training staff and educating clients on Coronavirus and prevention measures.
12. We are reaching out to our alumni community to make sure that they are staying healthy and positive.
13. We are actively monitoring the evolution and progression of the Coronavirus spread and best practices for prevention.
We believe that our remote location, sparse population, and the fact that we spend so much time outside will help us stay ahead of the Coronavirus. We will continue to take all reasonable steps necessary to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our clients and staff.
