Ali was born and raised in Billings, MT. She grew up skiing, biking and hiking for her entire childhood and spent the weekends in Red Lodge, MT. Knowing that she wanted to be a therapist since her sophomore year of high school, she attended The University of Montana in Missoula where she studied Psychology and minored in Spanish. After spending some time working in the mental health field, she was accepted into the graduate program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
Ali has worked as a ski coach, a mentor, and in other positions related to teaching skills in the outdoors until eventually working as a crisis stabilization worker for a short term in-patient psychiatric facility in Missoula. Here, Ali was eventually promoted as lead crisis stabilization worker. During this time Ali continued teaching skiing, and it was through her love for teaching outdoor skills and her own therapeutic gain from adventure activities that she realized she wanted to join Wilderness Therapy. Once in Salt Lake, Ali worked as a field guide for an adventure therapy company and later a clinical assistant. She completed her practicum working as an individual and group substance abuse counselor for the Family Counseling Center in Salt Lake, and was later hired with Legacy and Juniper Canyon for a year-long internship as a primary therapist, later being offered a full-time position.
When not at work, Ali can be found skiing, climbing, mountain biking, camping, fishing, canyoneering, making art and spending time with loved ones.
