Licensed Residential Treatment Center for Young Adults

Legacy

Our licensed residential treatment center provides emotional and practical support to people recovering from addiction or mental health disorders. The wilderness therapy program at Legacy takes advantage of our beautiful natural setting to help people in recovery connect with nature and peers. We tailor our treatment approach to each client’s specific needs, with a focus on outcome-oriented care.

Young people participate in the treatment process and adhere to program guidelines more easily when therapy sessions are engaging and offer new ways to think about their circumstances. Adventure and outdoor therapy uses various physical activities to show young adults how to manage symptoms of SUD, trauma, and mental health disorders. Clinicians and adventure guides model healthy interactions and walk clients through building practical skills for everyday life.

Adventure Therapy & Outdoor Programs

Our adventure therapy sessions integrate clinical and experiential techniques to create a holistic approach to client support. The licensed experts at Legacy Outdoor Adventures have created a treatment model that addresses the unique needs of young people recovering from substance use, trauma, and mental illness.

Some of the program treatments and services we offer include:

  • Evidence-Based Adventure Therapy: Outdoor adventure activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and self-awareness
  • Life Skills: Structured sessions focused on leadership, problem-solving, personal growth, and independence
  • Equine Therapy: Targeted activities with horses to support emotional regulation and connection
  • Group Therapy: Weekly group therapy sessions reinforce social skills, foster peer connection, and improve accountability
While we treat adults ranging from 18 to 40, young people especially benefit from participating in residential treatment where they can avoid distractions and triggers as they heal from the effects of addiction. Our team offers compassionate mentorship, clinical guidance, and continued support to clients and their families through every stage of recovery.

Residential Treatment Features

Our programs take place in a welcoming residential setting where consistent accountability from staff and peers encourages positive lifestyle changes and lasting sobriety. We do not use punitive measures to force change. However, we do have strict house rules to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort during rehabilitation. Staff tailors treatment features whenever possible to accommodate client needs and personal preferences.

Individualized Treatment
Plans

We use outcome-informed plans tailored to each client’s goals, mental health, and behavioral needs. Our experts design therapy sessions and outdoor activities tailored to each client’s needs, skills, and comfort levels to ensure a positive healing experience.

Holistic, Trauma-Informed Approach

Legacy Outdoor Adventures practices a whole-person approach to trauma treatment that integrates clinical therapy, adventure experiences, mindfulness, and self-care. Our holistic approach to behavioral health fosters personal growth and trauma recovery.

Daily Structure & Routine

Other treatment facilities may feel more like boarding schools for young adult rehabilitation. We use different methods. Our programs utilize outdoor settings, hands-on learning, and real-world experiences to help clients learn to manage their condition successfully. The daily routine includes a balanced schedule of therapy, adventure, reflection, and skill-building activities.

Family & Community Engagement

Community engagement and family support help people move forward and build a new life after healing from substance abuse. Our therapeutic programs include family services that provide guidance, intervention referrals, psychoeducation, and other resources.

Family Therapy & Support Services

Clients with a history of trauma benefit from family therapy and related support services. We use education, therapy, and guidance to help clients and their loved ones rebuild relationships and foster lasting change.

Alumni Engagement

We remain in contact with alumni to encourage accountability and community involvement. Clients transitioning into aftercare can continue to take advantage of ongoing support calls, reunions, and mentorship opportunities to reinforce recovery.

Conditions Treated

The licensed clinicians at Legacy Outdoor Adventures have decades of experience treating common and complex conditions. Every program offers addiction, mental health, trauma, and dual diagnosis treatment tailored to the specific needs of the client.

Substance Use & Addiction Treatment

Residential treatment for SUD provides clients with comprehensive care that addresses alcohol, drug, and prescription misuse. The low client-to-clinician ratio allows us to easily treat people with complex or co-occurring substance disorders.

Co-Occurring Mental Health Challenges

Dual diagnosis treatment addresses symptoms and side effects related to depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and behavioral issues. We also offer referrals for private or community-based mental health services for alumni transitioning out of treatment, ensuring long-term mental health support.

Behavioral Therapy & Therapeutic Interventions

Chronic substance abuse and untreated mental health issues can cause people to develop behavioral issues affecting their interpersonal relationships and self-esteem. Individual and group therapy targets self-destructive, self-harming, and maladaptive behaviors. Clients learn communication skills, emotional regulation, and practical tools for managing behavioral issues during recovery.

Program Highlights & Differentiators

The treatment approach at Legacy Outdoor Adventures sets us apart from similar outdoor programs. We use a wide range of therapeutic techniques to prepare clients for lasting sobriety. Tailoring our treatment sessions enhances the effectiveness of adventure and outdoor therapy.

Structured, Evidence-Based Care

Our licensed residential treatment center personnel use measurable outcomes and weekly progress monitoring to keep clients on track. The structure, accountability, and evidence-based care encourage clients to develop healthier routines and behaviors.

Everyone has to contribute in some way to the house or group. Responsibility builds confidence and emotional control. Clients learn they can change their circumstances by developing new behaviors and making different choices. The clinical team uses structured care and evidence-based methods to empower young people into lasting change.

Adventure Therapy Program

Legacy Outdoor Adventures integrates outdoor adventure activities with clinical therapy 3 to 4 days per week. The intense focus on alternating talk and experiential therapy allows clients to explore aspects of recovery through different experiences.

Adventure therapy gives young people a break from indoor, clinical settings. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance the effectiveness of talk therapy. We use outdoor therapy to create a well-rounded, holistic treatment model that addresses all aspects of a client’s physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

Life Skills & Holistic Development

We guide clients through recovery from substance abuse by giving them the tools to build self-esteem, independence, resilience, and social-emotional growth. Integrating clinical and holistic treatment encourages clients to develop essential skills for a sober life.

Some of the skills clients learn include time management, conflict resolution, clear communication, setting healthy boundaries, and eating a balanced diet. Recovery is about addressing the whole person and any underlying habits, trauma, or other factors impacting their ability to remain sober. Our clinical team supports clients and equips them with the tools to regain control of their futures.

Family & Aftercare Focus

We prepare clients for a life without treatment where they have the skills to independently maintain sobriety and manage mental health issues. A strong support system is a critical part of our aftercare focus.

We understand the vital role most families play in recovery during and after treatment. Family involvement, ongoing alumni support, and structured discharge planning ensure clients feel confident in their ability to maintain healthy routines after completing rehabilitation. We continue to reach out, providing people with expert guidance and recovery resources as they navigate long-term sobriety.

Accredited, World-Class Team

Comfortable Residential Spaces

The peaceful, home-like environment at Legacy gives people opportunities for rest and reflection. Our residential program provides comfortable living spaces where clients share housekeeping responsibilities and public spaces. The low-stress environment makes it easier for people to practice new routines and coping skills in real-world situations.

Adventure in Nature With Purpose

Outdoor programs designed to be meaningful, supportive, and therapeutic – not punitive or overly rugged provide the best therapeutic support. People often embrace the experiences more readily if they do not feel pressured or forced to engage.
