Addiction and Trauma Treatment
in Utah
Many women who are struggling with substance use disorder have endured traumatic experiences, sexual assault, and other life-altering events. These things can continue to affect overall well-being for years when not addressed. At our recovery center, our women-only residential treatment center utilizes a trauma-informed approach that addresses both addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions through individualized, evidence-based therapies.
Our dedicated treatment providers recognize the connection between trauma and addiction and work together to develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-lasting healing. We combine clinical care, adventure therapy, and continual therapeutic support to help women build healthier coping mechanisms, process past traumatic experiences, and build a foundation for long-term recovery.

A Safe Environment for Women’s Recovery and Empowerment
When healing from both trauma and addiction, women need an environment in which they feel understood and supported. At our treatment facility, we provide a structured women’s-only residential program in a trauma-informed setting. Within this setting, women can receive more individualized care while staying fully focused on their healing and recovery.
We utilize evidence-based treatment methods, adventure therapy, and mental health treatment to help women develop more effective coping strategies, rebuild their self-confidence, and gain important life skills that will benefit them throughout long-term recovery. Through our program, our goal is not only to help a woman become free from addiction but to address the underlying causes that may have led to substance use in the first place.
Accreditations
The State of Utah licenses Legacy Outdoor Adventures as a provider of mental health and addiction treatment and as a Residential Treatment Center (RTC). Why Treating Women’s Addiction and Trauma Matters
Some women may develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental health issues. These can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms without professional help.
Every woman’s experience with trauma is different. Therefore, it is important for treatment to address addiction and trauma simultaneously. We use an integrated, trauma-informed approach that recognizes the unique needs of each individual. Our team strives to help women work through their trauma, develop healthier coping skills, and improve their overall emotional well-being.

A Supportive Natural Setting for Healing Women
However, nature serves as more than just a setting for a treatment program. Rather, it is integrated as a key aspect of treatment. We use an integrated approach that combines evidence-based treatment, adventure therapy, and other outdoor experiences. Through adventure therapy, clients can apply the skills they have learned through therapy to real-world experiences.

Along the way, many women will discover strengths they never knew they had, celebrate accomplishments, and overcome challenges. They will also be able to bond with peers in meaningful ways, while improving communication skills, forming long-lasting friendships, and developing a new understanding of themselves.
