Addiction Treatment in Utah for Women

Legacy Outdoor Adventures has a low client-to-staff ratio, allowing us to tailor services and treatments to the specific needs of each individual. We offer a 90-day program and comprehensive aftercare planning to prepare clients for the transition into an intensive outpatient program (IOP) or other lower levels of care. The gender-specific programming supports life skills development and peer engagement.

Our program uses evidence-based and holistic therapies, including adventure therapy and traditional clinical modalities, to help women heal from addiction and co-occurring disorders. We treat pregnant women and mothers struggling with postpartum depression or other conditions.

A Safe Setting for Women’s Recovery and Healing

Unaddressed trauma can interfere with addiction recovery and overall wellness. We use trauma-informed care to create a sense of safety and comfort for women in recovery. The welcoming environment and serene natural setting at our Utah center help women relax and actively engage in the treatment process.

What Sets Us Apart

Our approach to treatment goes beyond traditional models by combining clinical sophistication, structured care, and measurable outcomes. At Legacy Outdoor Adventures, every aspect of the program is intentionally designed to support deep, lasting healing, not just short-term stabilization.

Adventure Therapy Integrated With Clinical Treatment

Our program combines adventure therapy three days per week with over 20 hours of structured clinical therapy. This balanced approach helps clients apply therapeutic insights in real-world settings, building resilience, confidence, and emotional regulation in a way that traditional settings often cannot replicate.

Individualized, Whole-Person Treatment
Plans

Every client receives a personalized treatment plan based on a comprehensive evaluation of their mental health, substance use, trauma history, and lifestyle factors. We treat the whole person by integrating clinical care, experiential work, and personal development into one cohesive process.

Trauma-Informed, Clinically Sophisticated
Approach

All care is delivered through a trauma-informed lens, ensuring emotional safety while addressing the underlying drivers of substance use and mental health challenges. Our licensed clinicians provide advanced therapeutic interventions in a structured, supportive environment.

Structured Residential Setting With High Clinical Engagement

As a licensed residential treatment center (RTC), we provide a highly structured environment that supports consistency, accountability, and focus. Clients engage in a full weekly schedule of therapy, adventure-based experiences, and guided reflection designed to promote sustainable change.

Low Client-to-Staff Ratio and Personalized
Attention

With a limited number of clients, our team is able to provide focused, individualized attention. This allows for deeper therapeutic relationships, more responsive care, and a treatment experience tailored to each client’s needs and goals.

Aftercare & Long-Term Recovery
Planning

We believe in comprehensive care and, as such, work with clients for long-term recovery planning. The Summit Graduation Phase is our way of ensuring that clients transition from treatment with the skills and planning needed for success. This program is embedded in our 90-day program and includes referrals and resources for further support post-treatment.

Accreditations

The State of Utah licenses Legacy Outdoor Adventures as a provider of mental health and addiction treatment and as a Residential Treatment Center (RTC). This includes accreditation from the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Council (OBH), as well as from other leaders in mental and behavioral healthcare.

Benefits of Our Nature-Based Women’s Rehab Program

The nature-based focus of our women’s program gives clients hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and mutual peer support. Women come together to learn, grow, and find positive ways to manage their conditions.

Individual Counseling

We use individual therapy sessions to teach coping skills and give women a safe space to process their experiences. Therapists use various evidence-based modalities to help women heal and grow. Women use one-on-one therapy sessions to work through personal aspects of their trauma, history, or recovery that they may not feel comfortable bringing up during group sessions.

Group Counseling and Support

We treat SUD and dual diagnosis using clinical group therapy sessions that allow clients to share their stories with others who share similar life experiences. Women-only group therapy sessions make it easier for people to talk about domestic violence or other topics they may not feel comfortable discussing in a coed group. Addiction treatment for women also encourages clients to support one another and provide life advice through important milestones, such as pregnancy and prenatal care.

Personalized Treatment Planning

Our personalized treatment planning allows clinicians and support staff to address AUD, prescription drug abuse, addiction to benzodiazepines, and many other forms of SUD. We can treat one or more substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Unlike other treatment programs, our small groups and tailored care accommodate complex cases to ensure all women receive the support they need to heal and achieve lasting sobriety.

The initial intake interview provides us with essential information to personalize care plans and create a tailored treatment experience. We use detailed assessments, screening tools, and a medical history to determine what approach will provide the best possible outcomes.

Medication Management

We only offer medication management as needed to reduce the risk of relapse. Our care team does not offer long-term Suboxone maintenance. However, we can accommodate methadone and buprenorphine prescriptions when appropriate.

We prefer not to use medication management unless absolutely necessary so that clients can utilize behavioral therapy and other options to address symptoms and side effects of their condition. Making changes to routines, thought patterns, and behaviors has a more profound impact on recovery compared to medication. However, we do acknowledge that some mental health and chronic physical conditions may require medication to stabilize. Our team works closely with clients to determine when medication management may benefit their recovery.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Legacy Outdoor Adventures treats co-occurring disorders alongside SUD to reduce the risk of relapse. Our clinicians address mental health conditions using personalized care plans and recovery services, including family therapy. Many people with dual diagnosis benefit from a continuum of care that includes residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient, sober living, and outpatient programs. We use comprehensive aftercare planning, referrals, and alumni support services to ensure clients have access to appropriate levels of care during every stage of recovery.

Supporting the Whole-Person Through Holistic Care

We treat women using a whole-person approach that supports physical and psychological wellness with a combination of clinical modalities, outdoor activities, family therapy, and aftercare planning.

Adventure Therapy

Outdoor therapy sessions give women the opportunity to practice the life skills and healthy coping mechanisms they learn in clinical therapy. The hands-on experiences build self-esteem and self-efficacy. Research has proven that spending time outdoors reduces stress and improves mood for people with SUD and mental health issues.

Family Therapy & Family Member Involvement

Families play a critical role in lasting recovery for many women with addiction and mental health disorders. We encourage families to strengthen and repair relationships damaged by substance abuse. Our clinical team offers family therapy sessions, psychoeducation, and other support services to help families navigate their loved one’s recovery.

Aftercare for Ongoing Peer Support

We provide highly personalized aftercare planning that addresses all potential factors that may impact a person’s recovery and ongoing mental wellness.

Peer support plays a critical role in long-term recovery by providing women with ongoing accountability, motivation, insights, and guidance.

Addictions and Co-Occurring Disorders Treated

People diagnosed with SUD have a higher risk of experiencing trauma and co-occurring disorders. We use comprehensive assessments during the intake interview to make an accurate diagnosis and determine any co-occurring or underlying conditions that may impact recovery. Our programs treat a wide range of addiction and mental health disorders.

Co-Occurring Mental Illness

We treat co-occurring generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), major depressive disorder (MDD), and other mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and other mental illnesses. Our clinical team has decades of experience treating dual diagnosis involving one or more co-occurring conditions. We help women heal and learn to manage their condition effectively. long-term.

Drug Addiction

Early intervention and treatment of prescription or illicit drug addiction can reduce the lasting effects and minimize the risk of relapse. Chronic drug addiction impacts physical and mental health, relationships, financial stability, and education or career advancements. We treat all forms of drug addiction using evidence-based modalities and personalized care plans.

Process Addiction

Behavioral addictions, including gambling, sex, shoplifting, gaming, social media, or excessive exercise. Almost any behavior can become addictive and problematic if left unaddressed. Process addictions cause people to continue engaging in maladaptive behaviors despite negative consequences. We treat process addiction using psychotherapy, peer support, and holistic therapies.

Alcohol Addiction

Many people with drug addiction also have AUD. Legacy Outdoor Adventures has the resources to treat women with AUD, SUD, and co-occurring mental health issues. We guide women through the process of discovering the root causes of their condition and making healthy lifestyle changes to address them.

Our team provides referrals for alcohol detox programs before new clients join our residential center. Alcohol withdrawal can have severe and sometimes life-threatening side effects. Medical detoxification programs minimize side effects and provide a more comfortable withdrawal. Our case managers will facilitate the transition from off-site detox treatment to our residential program.
