Treating Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders

People with dual diagnosis benefit from our integrative care that addresses physical and emotional issues impacting recovery. Our clinical team utilizes psychotherapy, psychiatric support, psychoeducation, peer support, adventure therapy, and family therapy to treat dual diagnosis. Adventure therapy and other experiential modalities have been proven to help people with addiction and mental health disorders experience better outcomes.

How Integrated Care Supports Dual Diagnosis Recovery

Dual diagnosis causes complications or complex side effects, and recovery often involves many levels of care. We offer residential treatment, aftercare planning, and ongoing alumni support. Integrated programs utilize holistic and evidence-based modalities proven to help people recover from substance abuse and co-occurring conditions successfully.

Dual diagnosis treatment also reduces the risk of relapse by providing greater emotional stabilization before the transition to ongoing recovery. We ensure clients feel comfortable with their ability to independently maintain sobriety before they step down to lower levels of care.

How Substance Use and Mental Health Are Treated Together

Often, the therapeutic interventions used to treat addiction also address mental health issues. CBT, DBT, group therapy, and family therapy can provide essential insights and motivation for people with dual diagnosis. We use multiple therapeutic approaches to tailor our programs to the needs of each individual.

How Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma Present in Young Adults

Young adults may express anxiety, depression, and trauma in unexpected ways. For example, a young person may have angry, explosive outbursts when they feel anxious or engage in risk-taking behaviors during depressive episodes. Legacy Outdoor Adventures treats each client using a personalized care plan that takes into consideration their specific circumstances and any factors impacting their mental health or addiction recovery.

Benefits of Our Rehab Programs

Our integrative approach and tailored services help people recover successfully from addiction and co-occurring mental health issues by giving them the tools to express themselves and process their circumstances. We provide people from all over the country with a structured environment where they can heal and build the foundation for lasting sobriety.

Gender-Specific Programming

We utilize gender-specific programming to ensure clients feel comfortable sharing their stories and engaging with peers. Men and women have unique needs during recovery. Our experts have decades of combined experience providing gender-specific, evidence-based care that prioritizes personalized care plans.

Life Skills Education

Many people with a history of chronic substance abuse have a deficit of life skills. Our programs give people the tools and guidance they need to develop basic life skills and healthy coping mechanisms. Clients learn new and expand existing skills through adventure therapy and other hands-on experiences, psychotherapy, and individual counseling.

Family Programming

We believe family participation in rehabilitation and ongoing recovery helps people maintain accountability and positive routines. Our programs use family therapy and other support services to help families and their loved ones navigate recovery together. Family plays a critical role in relapse prevention during aftercare and ongoing recovery.

Medication Management

We only use prescription medications when needed to help clients manage symptoms of withdrawal or co-occurring mental health disorders. Our team prefers utilizing experiential or clinical modalities to treat people with SUD or dual diagnosis. However, we understand that some conditions require medication to be safely managed during rehabilitation and early recovery.
